“ON” is a new initiative from the Belgian automotive designer Ben Surain (SURAIN Electrocycles) and powered by E-mobility ambassador Guy Salens to accelerate the use of light electric vehicles.
“ON” creates, develops and markets their own LEV brands for last-mile solutions and personal e-mobility. Under the theme #pushthebuttontoday, “ON” wants to present their range of unique light electric vehicles and the possibilities of future mobility.
"ON" also specializes in electrical custom builds and has opened a new multi-brand shop/workshop on the Belgian coast in Blankenberge. The focus will be on light electric motorcycles and mopeds with a unique design. If the customer wishes, these vehicles can undergo a separate and individual “Surain” touch.
E-Core Dax
E-core is a user-friendly plug-in replacement for any thermal 'Base 50' combustion engine to convert it into an electric one. "ON" is targeting the global market with this solution to convert traditional combustion engines into electric ones.
Designer and engineer Ben Surain is an avid admirer of Soichiro Honda and longed to create a sustainable substitute engine for Honda Dax, Cub, and Monkey models. With E-Core, Honda bikes can be given a new lease on life. The retro style from the sixties & seventies will remain unaltered, as well as the strength and quality of the metal—only the combustion engine needs to be replaced with this plug-and-play device.
Guy Salens: “The electric transition is now in full swing: many cities and countries worldwide are taking measures to ban combustion engines. Fuel prices remain expensive. With E-core, “ON” presents a new alternative for personal e-mobility in the existing global lightweight motorcycle market. A large part of this target group (with traditional petrol motorcycles) currently does not always have the financial means to purchase an electric motorcycle.
E-Core APEX
THE PACK recently visited the workshop of ON #pushthebuttontoday located near the Belgian coast in Blankenberge and discovered our fully functioning E-Core installed on a pitbike.
Ben Surain: "I was contacted by APEX in Germany asking if it was possible to put the E-Core in a pitbike. Daniel Hundseder from APEX Pitbikes suggested that this could give pitbike riders the ability to train indoors during the winter months."
Guy Salens, "E-mobility consultant at ON: this new application and use for the E-Core was also a surprise for me. I was not so familiar with pitbike competition." He added that track testing of the bike, which has an updated E-Core with more power (6 KW – 15 KW Burst – 20 hp) than the street-legal version (3 KW – 8 KW Burst - 11 hp), will be conducted in Germany."

In Europe we are already familiar with cargo e-bikes and longtail bicycles for many purposes. Whether it's to take the kids to and from school, to do your shopping or to use these vehicles for last-mile delivery by couriers… many families in urban environments are already using these types of light electric vehicles. Nowadays, with the high energy prices and extreme fuel costs, these e-bikes are becoming very popular and in most cases they even replace the family car.
This new way of sustainable e-mobility inspired “ON” to design their own light electric vehicle: C-Board is a large, foldable and modular scooter for many uses. However, this is no ordinary kickstep: the larger floor panel allows you to place your feet next to each other, which gives a much greater and safer stability than with normal kicksteps. Another safety feature is that you must start the vehicle on your own (yes, you must kick off with one foot). This prevents sudden acceleration and keeps you in control. By operating the speed button with your thumb, you can quickly get on your way.
C-Board is in pre-order via the website of “ON” and is fully assembled in Belgium.
Electric custom builds
For private customers, "ON" can create unique and tailor-made E-projects. For example, this project was based on a TC Max Super Soco. Ben Surain created and completely rebuilt this TC Max into a minimalist cafe racer called "Nuit". Ben Surain: “We are convinced that there will always be a market for special and unique projects, to express your individuality as we have always seen so far in the traditional motorcycle world”.

Guy Salens: "ON" is a new and perhaps quirky player in this young e-mobility market. But I am sure that with our ideas and knowledge we can claim our place in this new and exciting industry. We just owe it to ourselves. There is no other option anymore.
